Weddings can be huge, expensive, elaborate occasions where you wear that stunning white designer gown, invite everyone you know to celebrate and have the biggest party of your life. They can also be a low key, DIY, wear a quirky bargain dress from ASOS and have your dog as a bridesmaid type of deal. There is no wrong way to wed! But however you choose to do it; you will want to remember it.
Not everyone prioritises their wedding photography, and that’s totally ok! Every bride and groom are different and have their own ideas about what is most important to them. But for those who are on the fence and really want to have beautiful photographs to remember this occasion but aren’t sure if they can see the value in spending a good portion of their budget on photography, here are a few things that you may not know about, that you will get from me when you hire me as your wedding photographer…
So the first thing is you get what you see – I do everything myself in my business, from shooting all the wedding and engagement sessions through to the book-keeping, emails, social media, editing and image selection along with all the other (many, many) ins and outs of running a small business. You’ll never call or email me and speak to someone else, and you will never receive images that aren’t 100% my creation and I will always be the one shooting your wedding day. This business is run on the steam of one human and for that reason, I only take on a certain number of bookings per year so I can devote the time and effort I need to each wedding and portrait session.
I have been photographing weddings for 10 years this year. I have nearly 250 weddings under my belt and every single one has been different. I know how the day will generally unfold because this isn’t my first rodeo. Most brides and grooms haven’t planned a wedding before, so if you have any questions at all about anything in the lead up or on the day I’m your girl – I’m always happy to give advice or suggestions to make sure your day goes as smoothly as possible and your photos are as amazing as they can be!
On the wedding day I am calm, relaxed and ready to have fun, but focused and always have my camera up to my eye looking for moments. I regularly have brides tell me “I can’t believe so much stuff happened on the day that I didn’t notice, but you captured it all!” I’m there to take photos, but I've also been known to tie ties, help with dresses, make stupid jokes and bring a relaxing vibe along for the day.
I have allllll the gear; cameras, backup cameras, a bunch of different lenses, flashes, millions of memory cards and batteries, and the list go on. It’s all insured, and I also have public liability insurance in case one of my big scary cameras hurts someone!
I am an accredited member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography, and also a member of the Australian Bridal Industry Academy. I've been a finalist in the ABIA QLD awards for 4 years running, taking out first prize in 2015. These awards are bride-voted and confirm to me that I'm succeeding in providing not only the best images, but the best service that I can offer to my brides. If I can score 99.98% at these awards because brides had only nice things to say about me, I'm a happy photographer!
To hire me to photograph your wedding day, my packages start at $3300 (incl GST.) A complimentary engagement session is always included with my packages because I want to meet you, photograph you and get to know you as a couple before the big day.
Please note that I limit my wedding bookings per year and my calendar is often full 10-12 months in advance. Spring and Autumn are usually the first to go, so please contact me as soon as you can if you would like to secure your date!
I offer wedding albums as an optional extra. A wedding album will be something you can hand down to your kids and grand kids, it will last a lifetime (or a couple) and you want something to stand the test of time, not a department store photo book! Read more about the styles of album that I offer here.
Your portrait session with me might be different to what you have experienced before. I think what you want to remember - the whole reason you are making an effort to preserve this time - is your loved ones, all the little personalities and quirks, the way they are right at this moment.
Your kids will never be this small again, you will only acquire more smile lines and all of your personalities are developing and changing as life rolls on. So I want to freeze this moment for you. That goofy toothless smile, the cheeky grins and the shy peek around dad’s shoulder, that short time when your kids all fit comfortably on your lap, the glow and excitement of being freshly engaged to the love of your life!
You want happy smiling photos, ones you can send to grandparents and friends and hang on your wall. But I want them to be REAL smiles, laughter and joy! And bring the whole family; pets are always warmly welcomed along to along to your shoot!
Your portrait session with me will take place outdoors whenever possible, and I always recommend that the last hour of light before sunset is the best time of day for your session to take place in order to get the natural lighting and look of the images that I produce!
Sessions can take place from Monday to Friday. Saturdays are wedding days, and Sunday is my only day off during the week, so if you desperately require a weekend shoot it can be arranged but there is a surcharge.
P.S. I know many amazing newborn/maternity photographers - this is not my specialty but I can highly recommend some who are outstanding in this field!
A session with me is $165 for any locations between Caloundra and Maroochydore*. This session fee must be paid in order to secure a booking with me, and is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. In the case of adverse weather and/or sickness of either party I am always happy to reschedule!
This includes 1 hour of my time at the location of your choice (I have plenty of fabulous spots in a variety of locations – have a look here for some ideas and info) with up to 6 family members. Please contact me for a quote if you are looking at having an extended family session!
It also includes a sneak peek of a couple of your images on my Facebook page, a password protected gallery on my website of all of your edited images for you to choose from and unlimited email/phone consultation regarding the style of your shoot – including wardrobe, location and prop advice if you feel you need some guidance!
My print prices start at $88, and Digital Negatives can be purchased starting from $44. Please email me for a full list of print/canvas/photo book/digital negative packages and options!
And don’t forget – if it’s an engagement shoot you are after, I give one of these away for free with every wedding booking! Inclusive of your favourite 3 images as digital negatives!
*Other locations can be arranged with an additional travel fee.
